Driscoll PTA Needs You!
The
Driscoll PTA Nominating Committee is beginning the process of nominating
individuals for the 2012-2013 school year PTA Board. Below is a brief
explanation of each position. If you are interested in holding a position,
please download this form and return it to the Driscoll front office. (Click here to download form) Whether you currently hold a position
or are new, ALL interested individuals must return the form. Please remember
that some positions do not require a lot of time and can be held by working
parents, grandparents, etc. You must be a Driscoll PTA member to hold a Board
position and should have served at least two years on the board to be an Officer.
Please list your top three interests to ensure desired placement.
ALL are welcome and encouraged to consider serving!
OFFICERS
PRESIDENT
Performs administrative and leadership duties. Presides over board and general PTA meetings.
1st VICE PRESIDENT
Assists President in any capacity needed. Assists with Veteran’s Day Assembly as needed and
organizes/oversees Driscoll Defender Night (April/May General PTA Meeting).
2nd VICE PRESIDENT
Manages and oversees Spirit Shop and other fundraisers as deemed by the board, including
collecting monies and submitting deposits to the treasurer.
TREASURER
Maintains PTA financials including balancing checkbook, issuing checks, and making deposits.
Provides reports of budget and accounts for meetings. Files necessary paperwork to the state.
PARLIAMENTARIAN
Attends ALL board and general PTA meetings and has a working knowledge of the bylaws. Handles bylaw amendment filings and submissions for review when necessary.
SECRETARY
Attends ALL board and general PTA meetings and provides accurate minutes of the proceedings.
HISTORIAN
Compiles a record of the activities and achievements of the PTA including photos, documents, etc.
BOARD POSITIONS
ADEPT (Alcohol and Drug Education, Prevention, and Training)
Works with school counselors to schedule and organize events for Red Ribbon Week. This includes decorating the school and conducting poster contest using the District theme. Arranges campus level judging and awards. Acts as campus liaison to students whose entries advance.
ARTS IN EDUCATION
Encourages and organizes student participation in the PTA REFLECTIONS PROGRAM. Arranges campus level judging and awards. Acts as campus liaison to students whose entries advance.
BOX TOP COORDINATOR
Promotes school wide submission of Box Tops labels. Works with campus coordinator to set goals and incentives. Promotes, counts, and submits labels for monetary redemption to the school.
COUNCIL DELEGATE
Attends ALL Northeast Council meetings in order to relay the latest district information to the local unit. (The six meetings are at 9:30 a.m. at Piper-Bass Student Center)
ENVIRONMENTAL
Organizes and encourages student participation in PTA poster contest. Arranges campus level judging and awards. Acts as campus liaison to students whose entries advance.
FACULTY APPRECIATION
Organizes and oversees recognition of school employees on selected occasions with events and token gifts including birthdays and luncheons.
HOSPITALITY
Organizes provisions and sets up/serves refreshments at board PTA Meetings and other functions.
LIFE MEMBERSHIP/FOUNDERS DAY
Collects life membership nominations and submits paperwork to the Texas State PTA. Coordinates volunteers to assist with banquet invitations, nametags, and setting up at event in February.
MEMBERSHIP
Promotes, recruits and encourages individuals to join. Collect dues and prepares/issues cards. Submits information to Texas State PTA. Maintains current membership list.
NOTIFICATION – Care & Concern
Conducts all correspondence relating to the association, including gratitude, sympathy, and
congratulations, according to procedures detailed in the bylaws.
SPECIAL NEEDS
Represents and acts as liaison for the special needs community of Driscoll. Can include parent education and support opportunities as needed.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Coordinates volunteers as needed for various school functions. Collects, maintains, and distributes volunteer information to appropriate committees. Provides training as necessary.
